The BOTOX® Treatment Process
What happens during the procedure?
BOTOX® is an in-office procedure — no surgery center required. Extremely small doses are injected directly into designated facial muscles using a micro-needle. The entire process takes only a few minutes, and patients return to normal activities immediately afterward.
Does BOTOX® hurt?
Some patients feel an initial stinging sensation which quickly subsides. Cold compresses or over-the-counter pain medication can help with any mild discomfort. The micro-needle used is extremely fine — much smaller than a standard injection needle.
Are there side effects?
In rare cases (1–2 out of 100 patients), temporary drooping of the eyelid may occur and resolves within 1–2 weeks. BOTOX® proteins only attract to muscles and do not cause numbness or affect the central nervous system. Serious complications are extremely rare.
How long do results last?
Cosmetic results typically last 3–4 months. Therapeutic injections for blepharospasm may last slightly longer (3–5 months). Regular follow-up appointments are recommended to maintain results.
