Dr. Todd R. Shepler, M.D.

Dr. Todd R. Shepler is a board certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid, orbital, and tear drain surgery. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After winning the 5A Oklahoma Cross-Country State Championship his senior year in high school, Dr. Shepler attended Rice University on a track scholarship. He transferred to the University of Kansas and in 1993 graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he served as Class President. After medical school, Dr. Shepler completed a transitional year internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. He moved to San Francisco, California, where he completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology and served as Chief Resident at California Pacific Medical Center. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in Austin, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has been practicing in the Austin area since 2002. Dr. Shepler has been actively teaching students, interns, residents, and fellows in the central Texas area since 2002. He also served as President of the Austin Ophthalmology Society from 2003-2005. Dr. Shepler was recently awarded to the 2013 Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors list which is only given to the top 5% of doctors in Texas.


Dr. Shepler’s hobbies include running, boating, fly-fishing, snow-skiing, traveling, and coaching soccer for his two boys. He is married to Maria C. Shepler, MD, a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery.
